About

Beedie School of Business

The history of Canada’s Beedie School of Business, part of Simon Fraser University, is one of restlessness; a continuous desire to innovate, change and be at the vanguard of modern trends. They launched the country’s first Executive MBA in 1968 and are proponents of smaller class sizes, prominent online elements throughout their courses and encouraging student applications from a wide variety of work backgrounds. That last area of focus is particularly apt given the school’s location in Vancouver, an extraordinarily diverse city where the mother tongue of more than half of the population is a language other than English.

The school has a total of three campuses spread throughout the Greater Vancouver region, meaning students are perfectly placed to take advantage of its close links with the region’s local business community. However, Vancouver’s position as Canada’s gateway to Asia also means that it is a focal point of government investment and maintains close business links with Asia. Graduates who emerge from this globally-minded business school based in such an international city are almost certain to have a global perspective embedded within them – which is a key component of Beedie’s overall vision.

Since launching the country’s first Executive MBA in 1968, Beedie has gone on to expand its suite of MBA programs to include full-time and part-time options, a Master of Technology MBA and a niche EMBA in Indigenous Business Leadership. Pre-MBA online orientation courses ensure you can hit the ground running as soon as you land in Vancouver, whilst extended semester breaks are filled with extra networking events and international projects to ensure you get the most out of your time here. All of their programs come with career support that goes above and beyond including one-on-one career coaching, the largest business mentorship program in Western Canada and no fewer than three innovation labs for budding entrepreneurs.
