Faculty at IPADE Business School are experts in their fields

When choosing a business school, faculty composition might not be at the top of your list of decision-making factors. Yet, the quality of the faculty who will teach you can have a major impact on your business school experience.

At IPADE Business School, you can be sure that all faculty members are “experts in their fields and have relevant managerial experience,” (00:08) according to Alberto Ibarra Garza, Decision Analysis Professor at IPADE. When glancing at their credentials, one must agree with him.

Alberto himself boasts a Ph.D. Degree from IESE Business School in Spain and has consulted with Deloitte and KPMG. His colleague, Ernesto Bolio Barajas, Department Director for General Management and Strategy, holds a Ph.D. from Tulane University in the USA. Another colleague, Yvette Mucharraz y Cano, Human Resources Management Professor, obtained her Doctorate from Royal Roads University in Canada and has extensive experience in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. The list goes on when you view the academic and professional backgrounds of all IPADE faculty.

Academic departments at IPADE Business School

IPADE offers a vast array of courses in different business disciplines. As Alberto explains, “IPADE faculty is organized by ten Academic Departments” (00:14) ranging from Decision Analysis to Human Resource Management and Social and Political Environment. The courses offered by some of these departments are highlighted below.

Finance might send a shudder down your spine, but the Financial Management course at IPADE will show you that this need not be the case. You will learn how to analyze financial information to find financial solutions and ensure profitability while enhancing the value of the business and meeting financial objectives. The professors take care to ensure that you grasp the context and not just the content of the financial information you are studying.

Any business leader should understand the basic elements of individual and collective behavior of people in organizations. In Organizational Behavior, you will study concepts such as concepts such as responsibility, motivation, resistance to change, and communication.

All the business knowledge you obtain through an MBA will, however, be redundant if you do not have a proper grasp of the environment in which you need to operate. IPADE, therefore, prides itself on the courses on offer that will teach you awareness of your surroundings. Economic Environment will teach you about the impact and challenges of different global economies and help you to make sense of the context in which you operate to ensure that you have proper strategies in place to navigate changing environments. The same goes for the Social and Political Environment. You will be taught how to ensure there is a healthy balance between business and the environment and that you conduct business in a fair, socially just manner.

Faculty responsibilities: What do they do?

Alberto explains how faculty at IPADE have “four main responsibilities” (00:30), namely teaching, consulting, research, and management.

As far as Teaching goes, IPADE faculty teach in the MBA, Executive MBA, and Executive Education programs while also teaching at other institutions across the globe. “Many of our faculty members are visiting professors at other business schools in North America, South America, and Europe,” Alberto proudly states. (00:45)

In order to ensure that they stay up to date with the latest trends in business, it is imperative that faculty members stay connected to the business world. IPADE faculty does that through Consulting. They are active members on the management boards of various for-profit and non-profit organizations. They also participate in many consulting projects – all activities that provide professors with “relevant managerial experience which is then brought to the classroom.” (01:08)

IPADE faculty constantly engage in Research by developing new case studies, books, and articles “to bring cutting edge knowledge to the classroom.” (01:23) “Our research is highly oriented to relevant managerial topics,” Alberto stresses. (01:25)

It is also important that faculty have ample Management experience. Executive positions within the institution are held by IPADE faculty which provides them with relevant managerial experience that enriches the academic programs.

Through engaging in the different academic disciplines and carrying out their responsibilities with fervor, the IPADE faculty seem set to contribute to an experience fitting of a world-class business school and, what’s more, fitting of an unforgettable student journey.
