About

Esade

With world-renowned architecture, 300+ days of sun every year, and an enviable quality of life, Barcelona is one of the most desirable European cities to live in – as well as a global hotspot for business education. The city is home to several leading business schools, perhaps none more prestigious than Esade. From its humble beginnings in a small building in the upmarket Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona, Esade has since flourished into one of the most revered business schools in Europe.

The international makeup of Barcelona is reflected in Esade’s student population, which numbers more than 10,000 and represents 126 different nationalities across both the business and law school. Esade’s international outlook is also reflected in its 120+ partnerships with business schools all over the world, providing its students with invaluable exchange opportunities. Students of Esade are spread across its three campuses in Madrid, Barcelona, and Sant Cugat (located just outside of Barcelona), where you’ll also find the Esade Creapolis, a technology and innovation park showcasing the strong ties that the school has with the business community.

The Esade MBA courses come in three different formats: Full-Time, Executive, and Multinational. Its full-time program is recognized by the Financial Times as the #1 MBA for Women in Europe and #7 overall. It is highly flexible, with the option to complete the program over 12 months, 15 months, or 18 months, as well as a wide range of electives allowing you to focus on the topics that really interest you.

The Executive MBA holds similarly lofty rankings, rated as #9 in Europe by QS and #4 by The Economist. With international experiences that include a diverse cohort, overseas study tours, and an optional exchange, Esade’s EMBA provides you with the tools you need to become a global leader. The Multinational MBA, meanwhile, is targeted at aspiring Ibero-American business leaders and takes place across several major business hubs throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you see the current pandemic affecting intake of international students by ESMT?

We have not yet seen an impact on the number of international applications we have received. The biggest thing we are wary of is people being unable to get a visa whilst embassies are closed. We do have provision for online teaching for all of our programs in case this is still going on later in the year. Yet, we are very confident it will not come to that.

Why would you say 88% of the graduates end up working in Germany?

We find that for many people staying in Germany, it is a good way to get access to the European economy, which has lots of opportunities. All graduates can remain in Germany for 18 months following graduation, which is available for all graduates, regardless of nationality or income. So, for many people this is a unique opportunity to relocate. Students also have access to many more networking opportunities in Germany, and therefore have a better chance of finding their perfect job here. After the 18-month visa has expired, around 1/3 of students will stay in Germany long term, 1/3 will move somewhere else in Europe, and the final 1/3 will move internationally. One of the main benefits we see for our students is the increased exposure to networking whilst they study with us. This benefit, alongside the technical and leadership knowledge does almost always lead to an immediate benefit to your career. We have a careers team who will work with you to find a job after graduation.

What is the average age of the MBA class?

The average age of the MBA class is around 31, with the youngest in the class being 26 and the oldest members over 40, so it is a real mixture.

Which MBA programs does ESMT offer?

The Full-Time MBA lasts for 13 months and takes place in Berlin on weekdays. We require minimum 3 years of post-graduate work experience. Total cost of the program is €43,000, many scholarships are available.

The Part-Time blended MBA is being taught 80% online, with 20% of the program taking place in person over 14 weekends in either Berlin or Munich. As for the full-time MBA, we require 3 years of post-graduate work experience. The program costs €38,000, with the possiblity to get a €8,500 discount for applications submitted before June 15th.

Our Executive MBA consists of 10 week long modules over 18 months and takes place in Berlin. We require minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience and 2 years of managerial experience. Total cost of the program is €57,500.
