School

emba X is a joint program offered by the University of St.Gallen and ETH Zurich, two of Switzerland’s leading educational institutions. At emba X we believe the time has come for Switzerland and Europe to take a stance and put their unique assets fully at the service of positive global outcomes.

Location

emba X takes place both on-campus in Zurich and St. Gallen as well as online. Switzerland is famous for its high standards of living, due to its quality of life and high salaries – not to mention the breathtaking nature that makes it one of the most beautiful places to live.

With internationally ranked universities and multiple official languages (French, German, Italian, Romansh), almost 20% of the total student population in Switzerland is international.

Switzerland is also home to a wealth of multinational corporations, such as Nestlé, Credit Suisse, the United Nations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, meaning graduate job opportunities will not be in short supply. Being a small country means competition for these roles is high, but with high wages and low taxes, Switzerland is financially one of the most attractive post-graduate options in the continent.

Accreditations

The University of St.Gallen holds the prestigious triple accreditation of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), and the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

ETH Zurich is accredited by the Swiss Agency for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AAQ0. It was one of the first universities to receive this accreditation.

Programs

Surrounded by majestic mountain ranges, the program’s location plays an important role in the program itself. The emba X is a part-time, 18-month “Alpine Journey,” taking students through an individual development journey from “base camp” to “peak” performance.

emba X is for individuals with a minimum of 10 years’ work experience and 5 years’ leadership experience, as well as an undergraduate degree and fluency in English. Besides these official requirements, the selection process includes an online assessment and an interview.

emba X candidates must also be committed to personal development and positive social impact.

Scholarships

emba X offers scholarship awards when available. Applicants with an exceptional profile in corporate social responsibility, sustainable impact, diversity and inclusion, entrepreneurship, or emerging markets, may request an additional tuition fee incentive.

Fun fact

Switzerland was named the world’s most innovative economy in the 2021 Global Innovation Index. The index looks at various factors, such as knowledge & technology output, business sophistication, and infrastructure.

With 22.5 billion Swiss francs invested yearly in research and development, Switzerland’s status as an innovation powerhouse is unsurprising. In 2020, Switzerland recorded 966 patent applications per million inhabitants – well above the EU average of 146 applications per million inhabitants. Furthermore, 23 scientists with Swiss citizenship have won the Nobel Prize. Studying in Switzerland will undoubtedly offer many possibilities considering its excellent (and top-ranked) innovation ecosystem.
