Why Gabriela’s Frankfurt School MBA Was a Career Game-Changer
Gabriela is flourishing in her role in the German consulting industry. She credits this career success to her MBA at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, a school which frequently tops European Business School rankings.
When she first decided to relocate to Germany from Guadalajara, Mexico, finding her place in such a competitive industry seemed daunting. But with the help of the MBA program and its strong industry connections, Gabriela now enjoys a fulfilling and lucrative professional life.
The program also helped her cultivate a ‘pragmatic’ and ‘resilient’ attitude that will set her up for a life in leadership.
The Frankfurt MBA and Career Services: A Seamless Path to A Dream Role
Gabriela embarked on her Frankfurt MBA with a clear goal in mind. She wanted to kick off her career in Europe so that she could live and work there long-term.
She told MBAGRADSCHOOLS, “I first had this willingness to come to Europe not only to get the MBA but also to work and stay.” (00:01)
Having graduated straight into her target job, she considers this goal achieved. Gabriela traces her success, in large part, to the school’s Career Services.
Students benefit from a white-glove treatment. There’s mentoring from industry experts and sessions on telling your career storyline. The school even provides one-on-one career counselling sessions to help students ace the job market.
In Gabriela’s case, the school directly connected her with her future employer.
She reflects, “I was super grateful that the network Frankfurt School has [includes careers] fairs. At one fair, I got to know my current employer.” (1:33)
In such a competitive hiring environment, the school’s strategic partnerships are a key differentiator.
Frankfurt’s Appeal: Diverse and Modern with a Traditional Flavour
It’s easy to see why Germany was voted the most desirable European country to study in for two years running. Germany is a financial powerhouse on the continent, after all. It’s a financial hub, ranks in the top 10 locations worldwide for quality of living, and has breathtaking architecture.
Gabriella remembers, “My very first impression of Frankfurt and the Frankfurt School was [of its] combination of modern and classical European architecture.” (00:29)
From Gabriela’s perspective, Frankfurt’s buildings reflect its culture. As a place to study, it is multicultural and future-forward, yet at the same time, steeped in history.
She recalls, “The community here is very diverse, you can find everything. I also felt a combination of the traditional German culture but also [a touch of the] new generation.” (00:39)
Indeed, the Frankfurt School curates an inclusive environment. 31% of its Full-time MBA cohort are women, rising to 42% in its part-time equivalent. This emphasis on diversity prepares students to thrive in an international business context.
A Structured Course Grounded in Essential Business Principles
Frankfurt is among the 1% of business schools that hold the “Triple Crown” of accreditations. That is to say, it’s certified by AMBA, EQUIS, and AACSB. As such, the curriculum of its signature MBA is heavyweight.
Gabriela attests to its rigour and thoughtful design, “The curriculum during the MBA was very well-structured. We started with Economics, very much related to [the] strategy of a business, then we moved onto Finance and Accounting, then we had more operational and more analytical lectures.” (0:52)
Learnings in the classroom translate directly into a real-world business context. There are also opportunities to undertake electives taught in other parts of Germany.
As Gabriela describes, “[During] the electives … you can travel around Germany, to Hamburg, to Munich, also here in Frankfurt.” (1:11)
This helps students integrate into German society and gain contacts in the country’s other financial centers.
The Frankfurt MBA: A Life-Changing Course for Ambitious Professionals
The MBA at Frankfurt has helped Gabriela develop the personal characteristics a business leader needs.
She observed changes in her own demeanor, “My approach as a professional has changed because of the insights I’ve received into many different perspectives and ways of working.” (1:48)
She adds, “I’m super grateful for these changes and nowadays I believe I have the problem-solving, analytical, and pragmatic skills that are needed. Also, resilience is one of the skills I’ve developed.” (1:56)
So, what is her advice to others considering this course? Stop hesitating and take the leap. She emphasizes, “For anyone out there seeking an MBA, and especially the Frankfurt MBA, just go for it and face that fear. It’s an amazing and eye-opening experience.” (2:25)
As Gabriela’s experience shows, this program is tailor-made for ambitious professionals and an ideal springboard for a career in Europe.
