GIBS is located in Johannesburg, near the South African capital’s Sandton business hub. Johannesburg, often called the "City of Gold," boasts a rich history and cultural diversity that contributes to a dynamic and vibrant environment. As the largest city in South Africa, Johannesburg serves as a key financial, commercial, and industrial center, attracting both local and international businesses. It is home to numerous multinational corporations, financial institutions, and startup ventures.
Accreditations
For the 16th consecutive year, GIBS maintains its prestigious "Triple Crown" status, holding accreditations from the renowned Association of MBAs (AMBA) in the UK, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the USA, and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) in Europe.
Programs
The GIBS MBA program provides a broad view of business and allows students to choose between seven focus areas: General Management, Entrepreneurship, Consulting, Manufacturing, Health, Climate Leadership, or Digital Leadership. One of the distinctive elements of the GIBS MBA program is its compulsory global module experience which allows students to gain hands-on global work experience.
Scholarships
GIBS offers scholarships to support exceptional students in pursuing their business education with the Manufacturing Focus, Intensive, or Long Block MBA formats. These scholarships provide financial assistance and recognition for outstanding academic achievements and contributions.

GIBS is named after Sir Donald Gordon, a notable South African businessman who generously endowed the school. In recognition of his outstanding achievements in business and his philanthropic endeavors, Gordon received numerous honors and accolades during his lifetime. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1985, becoming Sir Donald Gordon.
