Today, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management is a prestigious university with doctoral and habilitation rights and was the first private German Business School with AACSB accreditation. In addition, with more than 250 startups founded by HHL Alumni, its business school is the top address for entrepreneurship in Germany.
The main campus of the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management is located in Leipzig, surrounded by the Weiße Elster river and only five minutes away from downtown.
The story of both HHL and Leipzig is one of reinvention. The city’s population plummeted after World War II, from 709,000 in 1940 to just 470,000 in 1995. During the same period, HHL was forced to close and reopen several times, eventually opening under its current name in 1992.
Since then, both have been revitalized. Leipzig is now the fastest-growing city in Germany, tagged as the “New Berlin” due to the influx of young people moving into the city. With diverse cultural activities and landmarks, Leipzig continues to attract young people. The city’s current student population is more than 38,000.
HHL also has study locations in Cologne and Munich.
HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management offers two MBA programs. The full-time MBA is 15-21 months. The average amount of work experience for full-time MBA candidates is 7.5 years. Personal growth lies at the center of the program. Students will also deepen their understanding of business management concepts, as well as improve their creativity, problem-solving, leadership, and intercultural management skills.
The part-time MBA program at HHL is 24-33 months, consisting of 17 weekends, two residential weeks, and one optional week in Boston. The program focuses primarily on entrepreneurship and leadership, offering students the opportunity to gain international experience and complete a term abroad at one of HHL’s 140 partner universities worldwide.
HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN).
HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management offers an array of scholarships for its full- and part-time MBA programs. This includes the Women in Business Scholarship (awarded to outstanding female candidates from all backgrounds), the Future Entrepreneur Scholarship (awarded to candidates who aim to start their own business after graduating), and the Young Leipzig Leaders Scholarship (awarded to future business leaders who seek to work effectively and responsibly).
HHL also offers diversity scholarships to candidates from the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.
The “Empowering Women in Business” initiative at the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management strives to inspire, enable, encourage, and support female students at HHL. With several Women in Business Networks as well as scholarship opportunities for businesswomen and female founders, strengthening the role of women in the economy is highly important to HHL – and the numbers don’t lie. In the HHL MBA Class of 2021, 61% of students were women.
