The Whitman School of Management is located in Syracuse, which lies at the crossroads of several North American cities including Toronto, Montreal, Boston, and New York City. Although its location makes it a key transport hub between Canada and the United States, it is also a thriving city with a long history. In Syracuse, you have the best of both worlds: a welcoming study environment at a campus university coupled with easy access to major cities.
The university’s iconic urban campus is set on 270 acres of rolling hills, located next to Marshall Street, where students can enjoy a variety of shops and boutiques, as well as more than 20 restaurants. The campus is also a tobacco-free campus to help ensure a healthy, respectful environment where students feel safe and free to work, learn, and live.
The Whitman School of Management offers three MBA programs. The full-time MBA is a STEM-designed program, which can be completed in two years. Students can specialize in up to two of seven concentrations: Accounting, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises, Finance, Marketing Management, Real Estate, or Supply Chain Management.
The Whitman School’s Online MBA is a flexible, online program that can be completed within 24 months. Students will attend three in-person residencies during the program in a weekend-conference-style experience, where they will further explore business trends and network with classmates, faculty, and business leaders.
Lastly, the Defense Comptrollership Program (MBA/EMPA) is a 14-month program. A unique collaboration between the Whitman School and the US Department of Defense, the program is designed for future comptrollers, equipping them with the practical tools and management skills required in today’s complex environment.
The Whitman School of Management is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), one of the leading accrediting bodies of business schools. First accredited in 1920, the Whitman School was the 16th business school in the country to receive AACSB accreditation.
The Whitman School of Management offers scholarships for MBA applicants. All scholarships for the full-time MBA are merit-based and students do not need to apply separately for these scholarships.
The school also encourages MBA applicants to explore scholarships, fellowships, and loans provided by external institutions. For the Online MBA, candidates can explore government loans, private loans, as well as scholarships offered through Syracuse University.
The Whitman School of Management is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering a culture of belonging where everyone feels safe and valued. Guided by these core values, the school offers a range of opportunities for students, staff, and faculty. Through workshops, for example, participants build awareness of inclusion-related issues – in the past, workshops have covered topics such as microaggressions, brave conversations, implicit bias, and transgender issues.
Another way the Whitman School drives diversity, equity, and inclusion is through partnerships with leading organizations that help underrepresented students. Whitman’s current initiatives include partnerships with the National Black MBA Association to increase placement rates of Black student members, as well as the EY/Whitman Young Executives of Color Initiative to introduce high school students from historically underrepresented minority communities to Whitman’s faculty, staff, and alumni of color.
