The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in various disciplines, including business and economics. VU emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, critical thinking, and societal impact. With its vibrant campus, diverse student body, and strong international reputation, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam provides students with a stimulating academic environment and prepares them for successful careers and contributions to society.

Location

VU Amsterdam’s central campus is located at the Zuidas, Amsterdam’s dynamic, fast-paced business district. At the Zuidas, you’ll find the offices of several multinational companies, from Google to Goldman Sachs to HBO. It is a well-connected area of the city, just eight minutes away by public transport from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and 15 minutes from the city center.

Accreditations

VU Amsterdam’s School of Business and Economics prides itself on three prestigious accreditations: EQUIS, AACSB, and NVAO. Achieving EQUIS and the first faculty in the EU with dual AACSB Business and Accounting accreditations, SBE aligns with the top 2% of global business schools. These accreditations assure the highest education and research standards.

Programs

VU Amsterdam offers two MBA programs. The MBA in International Business is an 18-month, part-time program for people with at least three years of work experience and English language proficiency.

The Executive MBA: Leading with Purpose program is an 18-month, part-time program for experienced professionals with a minimum of five years of work experience (ideally 7-10 years) and English language proficiency.

Scholarships

For both of its MBA programs, VU Amsterdam has various scholarships that cover up to 50% of the tuition fee.

The VU Future Women Leaders Scholarships are awarded to women leaders with proven achievements in creating a more inclusive society. The VU Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships recognize that diversity exists first and foremost within organizations, not only in society. The VU Change-Maker Scholarships are awarded to (social) entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial individuals who have made a positive impact on business and/or society.

Fun fact

For each core theme at VU Amsterdam – Connected World, Governance for Society, Human Health and Life Sciences, and Science for Sustainability – there is a “VU Dream Team.” Made up of a small group of bachelor’s and master’s students, these Dream Teams work independently to take on a significant social challenge and deliver concrete and tangible solutions. Students will write a business plan, create a website, collaborate with experts across disciplines, and translate ideas and expertise into prototypes.

Several Dream Teams have been successful in previous years, including PULSE Racing, the Human Power Team, and Wasub.
