Studying in Vienna for Global Exposure and Personal Growth

Choosing the right MBA program means evaluating both the academic and personal growth opportunities on offer. A driven MBA graduate with an international relations and diplomacy background, Jovana Djuric chose Webster Vienna for its global approach and multicultural classroom.

Originally from Serbia, Jovana recalls, “My first motivation was actually to study in Western Europe and also to improve my German skills.” (00:40) Studying in Vienna gave her independence, growth, and an EU location that opened career doors. After that, she embraced an international outlook.

She adds, “Knowing that I will study among seventy different nationalities, that was really motivating.” (01:24)

Webster University in Vienna, a private institution in Austria, prepares global leaders through its career-focused, internationally recognized MBA program.

The program builds a global mindset to lead across industries and cultures. Over 70 nationalities study on campus, bringing diversity to every discussion.

Personalized Learning and Supportive Faculty Build Student Confidence

Webster Vienna nurtures a close academic community where professors give personal support. Jovana thrived in small classes with friendly and helpful faculty and students.

She remarks, “They assess your abilities and knowledge and give you really tailored feedback.” (04:20) The professors truly cared about student growth and learning.

Jovana adds, “Even if you were shy, you could stand out…and gain confidence.” (03:14)

This support helped Jovana grow her leadership and communication skills.

Faculty mentorship at Webster builds confidence and helps students succeed. Webster’s MBA classes have only 25 students, allowing for deeper learning and connection.

Mentorship That Shapes Academic and Personal Growth

Academic mentorship turns learning into growth with clear goals.

“My favorite professor is Professor Eskerod…she inspired me not only when it comes to knowledge, but also when it comes to personal issues,” Jovana reflects. (14:56)

Jovana worked as a research assistant with Dr. Pernille Eskerod for 19 months. Over that period, she gained experience in tourism and stakeholder research.

“My professor was really a role model for me. She really helped me gain knowledge with my career development. She assisted me a lot, and gave me advice,” Jovana says. (17:02)

Their teamwork shaped Jovana’s thinking and emotional growth. Webster’s mentorship often continues after graduation. Many alumni return as guest speakers and mentors to support new students.

Gaining Practical Skills Through Research Assistantships

At Webster, hands-on work builds the essential skills that go beyond books.

Jovana remarks, “I was the Director of the Graduate Research Summit…that was the highlight of student research.” (06:57)

She planned events, led research, and represented Webster in St. Louis, in the United States. Later, she helped with academic publishing projects. Her work included green certification efforts and student conference planning.

Leading international projects built her communication and project management skills. Webster supports student-faculty research to promote real-world business learning.

Campus Involvement That Builds Leadership and Soft Skills

Leadership roles outside class also created a strong impact. Jovana recalls, “I was volunteering at alumni symposiums, providing building tours, [and] giving my personal experience to other students.” (07:33)

She organized peer meetups and ran public information sessions. These roles grew her leadership skills and confidence. They also sharpened her networking and speaking skills.

Campus involvement helped grow her resilience and people skills. Webster’s Career Services runs public speaking workshops to prepare students for global careers.

Preparing for a Career in Austria: From Thesis to Practice

Turning academic learning into career success is the final step of a Webster MBA.

“What was really important to me was my thesis at Webster. Later on, it brought me to my current job. I wrote about issues in quality management,” Jovana explains. (16:07)

She used lessons from managerial accounting in her job and applied her knowledge of business strategy. This training helped her feel ready on her first day. “This transition from university to the workplace was really seamless for me,” she adds. (21:04)

Webster Vienna offers career counseling that links capstone projects directly with job goals.

Life as a Non-EU Graduate: How Webster Supports International Careers

Webster also offers post-graduate support for visa and job processes matters, especially for non-EU students.

“Coming from a non-EU country, Webster helped me get work even though there were some difficulties with papers,” Jovana remarks. (22:18)

Webster helped her overcome these challenges through workshops, mentoring, and visa support, which helped her settle into life in Austria.

“I was invited back to Webster to give guidance for the next generation on how to prepare for work,” Jonava reflects. (14:38) Webster valued her experience and encouraged her to support future international students.

Webster simplifies the journey to global careers for their students. Through the Global Citizenship Program, international students get legal and administrative help.

Capstone Simulations That Prepare Students for Strategic Roles

Capstone projects help students connect theory to real-time decisions. Jovana says, “It tied up all [the] activities and all knowledge that we were learning in different classes seamlessly. It brought everything together. It showed us how everything fit into a bigger picture.” (18:59) It helped her see how everything she learned came together in real-world situations.

She emphasizes, “We could sense the effect of decision-making and see how different variables can actually influence profitability, marketing decisions, and the complete business.” (19:35)

The simulation sharpened her strategic thinking, decision-making, and improved her teamwork skills. All MBA students complete the Business Strategy Simulation Capstone in their final semester.

A Journey That Builds Resilience and Global Opportunity

Jovana’s journey at Webster Vienna demonstrates how a supportive environment and global education can pave the way for international career success.

She gained practical skills through research assistantships and built leadership through campus involvement. The career-focused capstone project and robust support for non-EU graduates helped prepare her for life after graduation. Her experience highlights the powerful influence this MBA program can have.

Jovana’s seamless transition to a Quality Manager role in Austria and her return to mentor future students underscore the enduring value and impact of her time at Webster Vienna.
