Four MBAs, One Prestigious Business School

Many of today’s professionals are looking for a rigorous, accelerated learning experience. They are seeking MBAs that can swiftly advance them along an existing career path or help them pivot into a different field. With career arcs compressing and business changing faster than ever, a one-year MBA offers exceptional value for those looking to move forward with confidence and renewed purpose.

Emory University’s Goizueta Business School is consistently ranked among the best business schools in the United States. Ranked #16 in the Bloomberg Businessweek list of best business schools and MBA programs in 2025-2026, the school is renowned for its high employment rates, impressive ROI, and robust alumni network.

MBAGRADSCHOOLS met with Brian Mitchell, the Associate Dean for Full-time MBA programs at Goizueta Business School. He explains how the school’s one-year MBA programs provide a summer semester of core concepts, followed by two semesters of electives. “It’s a very full and rich experience for the students in a one-year format, and there are a lot of benefits to that,” he says. Here, Brian shares how the school has reinvented its offerings with a range of four distinct One-Year MBAs, each designed to be customizable for specific business goals.

Global Immersion in Just One Year

Goizueta’s Global MBA takes place across five cities within four countries. Students move beyond borders to immerse themselves in the real-world of international business. They develop cultural intelligence, knowledge of global markets, and sharpen their decision-making abilities under pressure.

“We designed our Global MBA around three continents in one year, because that is a format that gives the student the most global exposure to some very different, diverse global environments, but in a timeframe that a lot of today’s MBA students are looking for,” explains Brian. (00:26)

The 12-month MBA enables students to achieve maximum ROI with minimal time out of the workforce. It blends academic rigor, cultural immersion, and international experience, all within just one year.

Core Modules and Copenhagen

Students start the program in Atlanta, immersed in foundation concepts with the MBA core curriculum before taking part in a real client consulting project. They then travel to Copenhagen, Denmark, for a Global Experiential Module that focuses on work-life balance and happiness in the workplace in one of the world’s happiest countries.

An Unforgettable Overseas Experience

During the fall semester, students expand their network at a leading international partner school.

“They have full autonomy when they apply to the program to select which of the partner schools they want to spend their fall semester abroad with,” explains Brian. (02:07)

They choose between Hong Kong, Barcelona, and São Paulo. Brian points out that students might opt to study in a part of the world they’ve never been to, a future career location, or a location they are already familiar with.

A Tale of Two Capitals

The final semester sees students experience a week-long residence in Washington, DC. This five-day immersion exposes students to a blend of business, government, and policy. Discussions, case studies, and site visits offer real-world perspectives. Students then travel to Mexico City for a unique insight into one of the world’s fastest-growing emerging markets.

A Holistic Approach To Healthcare

The Goizueta Healthcare MBA is a fast-track to healthcare strategy, innovation, and leadership. It provides healthcare professionals with a blend of specialized skills and foundational learning. As Brian illustrates, it provides crucial business grounding to those who need it.

“All of our one-year MBA programs start with the MBA core at the heart. So, before you even get into the healthcare focus, you’re getting a general management MBA foundation,” he says. “So, it’s a really great program for someone, in the healthcare sense, who has a clinical interest but doesn’t have any business experience.” (07:49)

At its heart, the MBA is designed to help healthcare professionals bridge the gap between clinical care and operational effectiveness.

Emory’s World-Class Healthcare Ecosystem

The Goizueta Healthcare MBA leverages Emory’s healthcare ecosystem. As an alum of both the business school and the school of public health, Brian says he is proud of the excellence and leadership that Emory University has demonstrated in healthcare education. “It’s high time that, as an MBA program in the business school, we take advantage of that. We leverage our on-campus expertise, and I couldn’t think of a better way to do that than by having a healthcare MBA,” he says. (04:49)

The business school’s connections with research institutes, government agencies, NGOs, and educators provide students with top-tier exposure within an intensive one-year journey. Moreover, as part of the Goizueta Healthcare MBA, students can take electives at the university’s medical school (ranked as tier 1), nursing school (ranked #1 in the country), and public health school, ranked #2 in the country, all by U.S. News and World Report.

The Washington Immersion

Students will take part in a five-day immersion in Washington, D.C., during the spring semester. Goizueta Business School is partnered with an institution called The Washington Campus. They focus on the intersection of business, policy, and regulation within the healthcare sector. “When you go to The Washington Campus, you spend a week in Washington D.C. hearing from the actual leaders who inform policy-making at the highest level,” Brian says. (04:51)

Discussions, site visits, and hands-on projects give students insight into new policy trends, regulatory challenges, and strategic opportunities within modern healthcare. They emerge with a better understanding of this rapidly evolving sector.

Top-Tier Real Estate Education

Goizueta Real Estate MBA blends foundational theory with hands-on learning. Students develop a deep knowledge of real estate finance, development, and investment, while honing their distinct leadership style and decision-making abilities. Real-world client consultancy projects and live global market exposure provide valuable insight and experiential learning opportunities.

Students benefit from deep industry connections cultivated through Goizueta’s BL Harbert Real Estate Center. Real estate professionals serve as instructors and guest speakers in the classroom.

A global immersion experience caps off the spring semester of the Real Estate MBA. This provides students with perspectives into how markets, capital flows, and development strategies vary across cultures.

There are two different locations that Goizueta is considering for the next cohort. These are Dubai, a cosmopolitan hub for luxury real estate, and London, a historic real estate powerhouse.

“We’re still figuring out which one of those is going to be the right option,” Brian explains. “But we’re going to do it in a way that gives our students a very rich, global, immersive experience.” (11:43)

Whichever destination the school opts for, this immersion will be a pivotal experience that gives students the strategic mindset and global perspective they need to become leaders in the real estate sector.

The Rise of the One-Year MBA

The very best Accelerated MBAs offer a blend of business fundamentals and customizable electives. For Brian, striking the right balance between the two was key to the design of the Goizueta MBA pathways.

“We looked at that format, having the footprint that we do, and decided that keeping the core semester common, but using those last two semesters to develop deep concentrations… that allows us to leverage a format that we already have and the resources that are already in place for teaching MBAs, and add that flexibility to be able to serve students,” he says. (13:09)

The new one-year MBA options were built on solid foundations, with Goizueta’s 35-year track record of delivering a one-year MBA program.

“The internal conditions were right, but also the demand in these areas has been proven over time to be something that students are interested in,” says Brian. “We were able to put it together in a way that takes advantage of our current one-year format, and I think that’s a unique position for us to be in.” (13:49)

As career arcs continue to compress, MBA programs that deliver rigorous curricula, real-world experiences, and high ROI will stand out. If you’re looking for an intensive yet comprehensive business education, a specialized one-year MBA at Goizueta Business School is a smart choice.
